
Fun things to do in Malindi
The beaches of Malindi have become one of the world's great playgrounds, with plenty of opportunities for water sports or simply sunbathing.
There are plenty of fun thigs to do while you are basking in the sun;
Dolphin watching
Since dolphins are frequent visitors off the coast line, dolphin spotting dhow trips are available.
Snorkelling equipment is provided so that you can build up an appetite while exploring the coral gardens.
Dhow trips
A dhow is a traditional Arab sailing ship with over 1000 years of plying the waters of the East African coast. Built entirely of wood, they were used to transport spices, carpets and other goods between Africa and India. Sightseeing, lunch or dinner cruises are available with on-board entertainment with dancing, fire-eaters, limbo dancers, acrobats and more.
Marine parks
Malindi marine park, together with the adjacent Watamu and Mombasa marine parks and Reserves are the world leaders in accessibililty, beauty and diversity of marine life.Another marine park with close proximity is the Kiunga Marine National Reserve, which provides a refuge for rare sea turtles and dugongs.
Deep-sea fishing
Some of the best fishing of the African continent is found off the Kenyan coast, where many all-African records are set. Malindi waters are home to millions of billfish, containing the top sporting game-fish. Malindi is probably the best place in Africa for sailfish. All along the coast, boats are available for hire.
Water sports
Various activities are available on the Malindi coast, including wind-surfing, water-skiing, snorkelling and scuba diving. A fascinating way of observing the reefs and marine life is from a glass-bottomed boat.
